Spring 2011

Dear Friends at the Anna Shelter,

We wanted to send you an update on Honey, who became a part of our family in February.  She was such a shy and timid dog when we brought her home.  She spent so much time hiding under the kitchen table, that we weren't sure if she would ever come around.  With lots of love and patience she is really starting to show her energetic personality.  She loves being outside playing with the neighboring dogs. She also is finally comfortable exploring the house and making the place her own. She still has her days where she is shy and timid (especially taking car rides and walks), but everyday she comes out of her shell more and more and I am sure by summer she will be all adjusted!!

Thanks Anna Shelter,

Amy and Keith

My Adorable New Baby Girl Has Been Home For Two Weeks Now And Is Quite Happy.  She Thinks She Owns The Place! She Was Only Home For A Few Hours In The Picture. I Named Her Maleficent Which Is The Witch From Sleeping Beauty And It Means Evil Which Completely Describes Her Personality.  Welp, I Just Wanted To Make Sure That The Anna Say My Baby And Knew That She Was Doing Great! Oh, And Maleficent Says Hi Too!

Hi A.N.N.A Shelter! Just wanted to sent you an update on Max, the black and white kitten I adopted from Petsmart on March 26th. Max is very sweet and likes to sit on your lap (in fact, he and his new brother Cole are sitting with me as I type this!). He's also very vocal and loves to play. Max fit in right away and gets along so well with his new brother Cole. They love chasing each other around the house and taking long naps together. Wherever one is, the other is never far behind! I attached some pictures of Max and Cole for you to see.

I couldn't be any happier that I found him at Petsmart that day and he's made a great addition to the family. Thank you so much!

 Hi A.N.N.A. Shelter Staff!

I just wanted to send some pictures and an update on how "Puss", now
Savannah, is doing.  We adopted her on 4/9/11.  It took her some time to
warm up to our dog Bailey (formerly James, adopted 2/28/10).  First
introductions were on either sides of a baby gate and with the dog about
3ft back from the gate and she still lunged at the gate hissing and
swatting... Poor Bailey was just sat there calm as could be looking at
us like he had done something wrong to warrant bringing this new
creature home.  After about a week she was finally walking up to him on
her own and rubbing against him (I bought a harness and leash so I could
hold on to her and prevent any sudden attacks)

Now, about 2.5 weeks later we let her have free range when we are at
home, but keep her in the spare bedroom when we are gone for long
periods of time.  I still don't fully trust her on her own around
Bailey.  As you can see from the pictures she isn't afraid of him at all
anymore, and will walk up to him all the time to rub against him, or lay
with him.  She still randomly attacks him though.  He can be across the
room, not doing anything and all of a sudden she will run at him hissing
and swatting.  10 Seconds later, she will try to walk up to him like
nothing is wrong.  Poor Bailey just tries to avoid her.   He is way too
passive, he is afraid to walk past her sometimes, and anytime she gets
near him he tries to just slowly walk away.  I wish he would stick up
for himself a little more, at least hold his ground.  She can even drive
him away from his food bowl!  I she walks up to him while he is eating,
he will just walk away from his bowl!  When we adopted Bailey (James) he
had been a stray and was very skinny and timid.  He has come a long way
and really opened up and become a happy loving dog.  I am afraid that
her behavior could cause him to revert back a little bit.  I don't want
him to be afraid to walk around his own home!  Or hide in the bedroom
because Savannah is in the living room with us.  Who would have ever
thought a pit bull mix would let a cat push him around so much!

Other than that she seems to be doing very well!  She is very friendly
and always wants to be in the same room we are.  She's playful, eating
well, and loves to watch the birds through the patio door.  She follows
my boyfriend Chris around everywhere, which is funny since he isn't
really a cat person.  Hopefully  as time goes on she will learn to stop
attaching the dog!

Thank you & look forward to seeing everyone at the Pup Crawl!

Dear ANNA Shelter,

Just wanted to send you a photo of the puppy we adopted on January 3rd, 2011.  His name is Kooper and he has filled our hearts with more love than we could have ever imagined after the sudden loss of our dearly beloved Legacy.  As you can see, Kooper has adjusted well and fits in great with the kids.  He has his own personality and keeps us laughing on a daily basis.  Thank you so much for the opportunity to have the companionship of another wonderful dog.  He is loved that is for sure!

The deepest gratitude,
Bill, Lorie, Daniel, and Jill Coyne

 (No Picture of Daisy...yet!)

Our new ‘adoptee’, Daisy is doing well.  She came down with a case of kennel cough, but a trip to the vet and some ‘doxy’ has cleared that up.  She was very thin when she came home, but has gained 1 and a half pounds, is eating well and doing great!  She seems to feel comfortable with our family, and she and the dog get along great.  She is a real snuggler and for some reason (?), has taken a real liking to my husband!

We look forward to having her as part of our family for many years!

Hi,

I received a phone message yesterday asking about the kitten we adopted several weeks ago.  I have to tell you that “Jack” is the sweetest kitten and has adapted extremely well to his new home.  He gets along well with both our dog (8 year old rottie) and cat (2 year old) and all are best friends.  He has a fabulous personality and we look forward to the next 20 years with him!

Thank you so much!

Hi,
Just finally taking the time to write on my adoption from Petsmart on 12-11-10.
I adopted what appeared to be a scared, quiet little girl that had been there for weeks.
She was given the name Simone by your staff. I renamed her Suki.
After a few days of coming home with me, she started coming out of her shell.
Now she's a very chatty, cuddly girl who LOVES to play.
Completely different cat than I would have ever expected and I couldn't be happier.
Meet Suki, a very great friend of mine.
A happy adopter - Shannon

My son & I adopted our Alanna from the shelter in April of 2009. She
is the best dog!! She's a black lab mix, & loves everyone & every
animal!! We have 4 cats (all strays) & she gets along with all of them!
Thanks to our friends @ Invisible Fence, she never leaves our big
country yard!! We would love a companion for her, but as a divorced
working mom, my budget is maxed out! We can't wait to participate in
the Pub Crawl, & will call to see if any pets need a "walking partner"
for the day!
Thanks for doing all you do for all pets!
Sincerely,
Sarah, Ryan & Alanna Trevelline

Hi, everyone at the Anna Shelter !  I adopted Sammy, the beautiful orange striped 1 ½ yr . old, who was at Pet Smart. I brought him home, today, and he is adorable.  Very curious and having a wonderful time , exploring my home.  He will be “the King”.  I lost my 12 yr old cat, in March.   Sammy is my “new love”.  I know I left his brother, The Chairman, at Pet Smart, not sure I was ready for 2 cats.  I hope Sammy does not miss his brother. Thanks for all you do for our loving 4 legged creatures…Carol Joyce
