Summer 2010 II

Ruth,

I am sending another picture of Peppy to you.  This is probably the best picture of her you could ever get.  To be honest, when we got Peppy, I worried that we had made a mistake.  She looked so gangly and lumpy. JAnd I was worried that my husband, Kevin wouldn’t take to her because he isn’t a huge dog person.  He is a cat lover.  He thought she was ugly.  Peppy got sick right away, and it cost us quite a bit of money to make her healthy.  We were worried that she was going to have to be on medicine her whole life.  But despite all the negative things about her, she has won a huge spot in Kevin’s heart.

There was no reason for me to look at your website the day that I saw her, but something made me look.  I wanted her right away, in spite of her age and looks.  It was like it was meant to happen.

She is such a funny dog.  She goes crazy when we get home from work every day.  We have to keep her in the kitchen during the day and at night because she will pee on the floor occasionally.  Once we take her out, she comes in, we take the gates down and she just runs circles around our 1st level.  Then she will lay in her back and wiggle around.  After that, she will use her back legs and rubs her face all around the floor.  Then she will come over and stare at you wondering why you haven’t fed her yet!!

I let her up on the bed when my husband isn’t home or before he comes to bed.  She will stay on that bed with me without moving a muscle.  Then when Kevin comes back and banishes her to the kitchen at night, she will yell at him for at least 15 minutes. The picture I have attached is one time I got her to crawl up in me in the bed so I could get a close up of her face.  Even though she has lumps and cysts all over her, she is still the cutest little dog, with the sweetest little face.  I am so happy that Peppy and I somehow came to meet.   She is a mama’s girl.  My friends who visit think it is so cute how she follows me around.  They say that it appears as though Peppy knows that I saved her.  We wouldn’t be as happy without her!

Thanks!

Dear A.N.N.A. Shelter Staff,
I wanted to thank you all for your help in adopting Peyton. He's been my baby for seven months now and I can't imagine life without him! We just fenced in our back yard so he has lots of room to run although we still take 3 or 4 walks around our neighborhood each day. He loves being outside in the nice weather and barking at the neighborhood dogs (he's quite the little guard dog but has made a few doggie friends). We often take trips to visit family south of Pittsburgh on their farm and he just loves it there too with all the smells, acres to run around and his doggie cousins to play with. He's also wonderful in the car (as you said) so we've been able to take some trips to places like Ohiopyle State Park and Mingo Creek County Park. He's definitely spoiled, sleeping anywhere he wants including on me, on the back of my sofa in the window (sometimes I think he's part cat) and of course in my bed (I even bought a bigger one so he would have more room)! But then again, who could say no to that cute little face (especially when he licks it)?
Thank you again for all of your patience and for helping Peyton and I find each other. He's definitely found his forever home!
All the best,
Carrie and Peyton

Hey!

I wanted to give you guys an update on our little girl. We renamed her Romey. She had her first puppy wellness check-up at Animal Ark and they said she is VERY healthy. They also stated that she is indefinitely some form of a Great Dane Mix! She has really webbed feet so we are assuming Great Dane and Lab. She is such a sweet little girl and we could not have asked for a better dog. She loves her BIG brother, Bailey the Golden doodle. They get along so well and love to play with each other and take walks together.  She has fit so well into our pack. I have attached some pictures. They are a little fuzzy because I was trying to take them with my phone and keep them still. J I also wanted to inquire about volunteer opportunities. I would love to be able to help out. Also, I get cleaning supplies and dog treats for free a lot because I am one of those crazy couponers and I would like to start donating some of that to you guys. Let me know about the volunteer opportunities.

Thank you again!

Hello to everyone at the shelter.

My fiance Brock and I would like to thank you all once again for all your help with adopting our wonderful girls.  We adopted our first beautiful red and white husky, Calleigh, from you in March.  She was formerly known as Foxy.  She was the sweetest dog we could have ever asked for.  She fit in great in our house and got along well with our two cats.  She even likes to curl up with our kitten!  Well, one night mid-May, I saw you updated your website and put up a picture of another red and white husky, Roxy.  I texted my fiance and told him we had to have this dog.  That's when I also emailed Guillyn, Ruth, and Kris.  (I really wanted this dog!)  He told me no, and I did not listen.  We brought Calleigh down to the shelter the next day and she met Roxy.  Well, all of us fell in love.  We were able to take Roxy home that day, although we changed her name just a bit.  She is still Roxy, but spelled Roxie.  They are amazing dogs.  We love them so much.  The two girls have become absolutely inseparable.  They don't like to do anything without the other.  We can't go for a walk with them without being stopped by at least 5 different people telling us how beautiful our dogs are, or how well behaved they are.  They love playing in the yard together, playing with the cats, sleeping in Mommy & Daddy's bed, going for long walks and hikes, and all the toys/stuffed animals/rawhides they have around the house.

We love them more than anything and they have made our lives so much better.  I don't think we can thank you all enough.

Hello,
Just a few pictures.  Sage, which Betsy liked as far as the name, was Cinnamon.  I'd have to say she's doing good.  We did take her to obedience training, she was completely potty trained probably a month or 5 weeks after the Pet Smart adoption.  She is now staying out of the crate when we are gone, and sleeping without destroying the house.  We have her appt. to be spayed and micro-chipped this coming Mon.  We've both graduated LECOM and started in Erie at Millcreek.  No complaints, and thanks.

Marcus and Betsy

I just wanted to send a thank you for completing our family. We were looking for a playmate for our cat Corey for quite some time. Then we came to your shelter and found Simpson, which you guys called Achmed, and then we renamed Sea Bass. We couldn't of asked for a better kitty. Thank you so much
Britt and Shawn
Hopefully the picture sent too.. sea bass is on the left and Corey on the right

Hi

I just wanted to update you on 2 Yorkie/Shih Tzu puppies that I adopted in June.  We named them Tucker (who weighs 8 pounds now) and Cooper (who weighs 4 pounds now).   We couldn't be more thrilled that they are now a part of our family!!  I had to put my 13 year old Pekingese Miles down so it was a great help to have these 2 little "clowns" around.   They are doing very well and just finished all of  their puppy shots.  (No more going to the vets for a while until I get them neutered in October.)   Since my daughter and her family also adopted a pug puppy around the same time, Tucker and Cooper have someone else to play with and get into trouble with!    They will all turn 4 months old in August.

Enjoy the photo!
